G20 members should promote globalization, reject unilateralism and protectionism, and ensure the smooth functioning of global production and supply chains, Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang said at the G20 summit in New Delhi on March 2, Xinhua reported.
He also called for efforts to make global development “more inclusive, sustainable and beneficial for all”adding that China’s proposed Global Development Initiative offers a new option to reinvigorate the UN’s 2030 sustainable development agenda.
Qin noted that G20 members should practice true multilateralism, uphold the UN-centered international system and international order based on international law, and abide by the basic norms of international relations based on the purposes and principles of the Charter of the UN.
In addition, the official expressed the hope that “Multilateral financial institutions and commercial creditors will actively participate in dealing with the debt problem of developing countries”while noting that “China has suspended debt service payments to a greater extent than any other member of the G20.”
Regarding the conflict in Ukraine, Qin stated: “China will always be on the side of peace, vigorously promote peace negotiations and play a constructive role”.
