An inappropriate criminal with bladed weapons attacked a grandmother and granddaughter in the Swedish city of Gothenburg, wounding a 10-year-old girl in the stomach, the NL Times reports March 3.
A girl from the Netherlands was visiting her grandparents in Gothenburg. At the time of the attack, she was walking with her grandmother down a busy city street. A 35-year-old criminal attacked an elderly woman and a girl with two knives. The boy received several stab wounds, one of which he hit him in the stomach. The grandmother also got it, the offender cut off her hand, with which she tried to cover the child.
The police stopped the criminal right on the street. The girl was taken to the hospital. Doctors assess her condition as stable and serious.
It turned out that the attacker was well known to law enforcement officers, had been to prison several times, for robbery, armed assault, attempted murder of a cellmate. The offender is noted to have mental health issues, likely exacerbated by drug addiction.
