This Saturday, the PSP intercepted Benfica fans belonging to the Nameless Boys group who were detonating pyrotechnics near the Estadio da Luz stadium. This situation led to clashes between agents and supporters, who wounded one of the policemen.
According to a PSP press release, the pyrotechnics began to “pose a hazard to drivers and pedestrians who were still moving in the area.” When the police came to put an end to the negative behavior of the Benfica fans, stones and bottles were thrown at them, these throws injured one of the police.
The police were forced to use force and fired “two less lethal rounds” to disperse the Eagles’ supporters. As a result of the operation, several pyrotechnic items were seized.
