20 students from the Shiraz Conservatory were hospitalized due to difficulty breathing after smelling an unpleasant odor, Khamidreza Shabani, director of the information and public relations department of the general education department of Fars province, said on March 5, IRNA reported. .
In the morning, several students at Dr. Iraj Kamali’s conservatory in the city of Shiraz, the capital of Fars province, said they smelled bad, an official said. Based on instructions sent in advance to schools in the region, the principal called an ambulance, he added.
The students were evacuated from the classroom and taken to the schoolyard, Shabani said. Twenty students who were anxious and stressed were rushed to the hospital for further treatment, she said.
In total, there are 208 students in this school, currently the general condition of the rest of the students is good, the official summarized.
It is also reported that four students from one of the schools in the Servestan region came to the hospital in the city of Servestan, 84 km south of Shiraz, complaining of dizziness. 12 students developed headache and nausea after smelling a bad odor. Four of them were hospitalized with dizziness.
Local authorities later reported that the students were fine and there was no cause for concern.
Remember that such incidents have become more frequent recently in Iran. On March 3, President Ibrahim Raisi instructed the head of the Ministry of the Interior and the Minister of Intelligence to investigate the situation of the poisoning.
The Kayhan newspaper reported that the poisonings appeared in November 2022 in Qom province and then spread to other regions. Most of the poisoned students suffered from respiratory problems, nausea, fatigue and dizziness, some of them ended up in hospitals.
Accusations began to be heard in the West against the Iranian authorities that the reason for the poisoning was allegedly the use of chemicals by the regime against its own population or in relation to the stress caused by the alleged repression.
Tehran, for its part, said outside forces are behind the poisonings, seeking to spark riots in the country.
