Russia announced this Sunday that it is ready to fulfill its part of the grain export agreement signed last July, if other participants apply it on equal terms.
In an interview with the Rossiya-1 TV channel, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that Russia is ready to implement its part of the agreement if the other participants fulfill their obligations on an equal footing.
The agreement aimed at solving the problem of food and fertilizer supply in the world markets was signed on July 22, 2022 in Istanbul.
“If this is an agreement in which there are obligations of the parties, and not just one of them, but the intrigues of the other side, if this agreement is the same, we have always fulfilled and will continue to fulfill our part of all agreements,” he said.
He continued, “If it’s more of a double scam, if it’s more of an attempt to focus on what you want and forget everything else, and we’ve seen examples like that, even in the food deal, then we’re sorry. .”
One of the agreements regulated the export of grain from the Kyiv-controlled ports of Odessa, Chernomorsk and Yuzhny. The agreement between Russia, Turkey, Ukraine and the UN provided for the creation of a four-point coordination center for the inspection of ships carrying grain in order to prevent arms smuggling and avoid provocations.
In addition, Russia and the UN signed a memorandum that provides that the UN will take measures to remove various restrictions on the export of Russian agricultural products and fertilizers to the world market.
The grain agreement was extended in November for another 120 days until March 18.
Last Thursday, the Russian Foreign Ministry said the deal was not working, accusing the West of not honoring its part of the deal with Russia.
According to the ministry, about 262 thousand tons of fertilizers, which the Russian side planned to transfer to the poorest countries, are blocked in the ports of Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia and the Netherlands. A single shipment of 20,000 tons has been shipped to Malawi, but has “not yet reached the recipient”.
