The Cape Verdean government will sign a contract with the Portuguese cement company Cimpor to explore for pozzolans on the island of Santo Antao, which will create more than 100 direct jobs, Prime Minister Ulisses Correia e Silva said.

Cabocem, owned by Italian investors, was set up here in 2005 to produce pozzolanic cement, but ended up closing in June 2013, despite local authorities estimating that the area has deposits of around ten million tons of pozzolana.
