The International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) has banned the head of the Russian Rhythmic Gymnastics Federation, Irina Viner, from participating in international competitions in any capacity, including as a coach, for two years, the FIG press service reported on 6 of March.
This decision was made as punishment for Wiener’s statements regarding Natalya Kuzmina, who previously led the FIG technical committee. Wiener’s words are considered offensive.
Wiener’s disqualification was introduced for two years from the date of admission of Russian gymnasts to international competitions. At the same time, if Russia does not return to international sports within the next five years, the disqualification will end in March 2030.
Recall that in 2021, Wiener accused Kuzmina of suing the Russian representatives of the rhythmic gymnast at the Tokyo Olympics. Then our athletes sensationally lost in the individual championship and team competitions for the first time in 20 years.
