Searches carried out by about 20 inspectors from the Judicial Police National Anti-Narcotics Unit (UNCTE/PJ) since Sunday evening on a cargo ship escorted by the Navy to the Alcantara dock in Lisbon on suspicion of drugs on board, they end up like this and find nothing.
Members of the National Maritime Authority, the navy and about 20 UNCTE/PJ inspectors were involved and handed over all the cargo on the Panamanian-flagged vessel. The bulk carrier was transporting an oil train and left South America, bound for Turkey. About 100 miles off the coast of Portugal on Saturday, the Navy patrol ship Setúbal caught up with the vessel and escorted it to Lisbon, where it arrived late Sunday evening. On warning from the Maritime Analytical and Operational Center MAOC, an international maritime trafficking organization based in Lisbon, it was suspected that drugs might be on board.
However, do you know cmnothing was found in the ship’s cargo hold.
The ship should receive permission to continue moving within the next few hours.
