Pyongyang will view a US attempt to shoot down a North Korean intercontinental missile during its test launch in the Pacific Ocean as a declaration of war, said Kim Yo-jong, deputy head of the South Korean Workers’ Party Central Committee. North Korea, he said on March 7, according to the DPRK Central News Agency (CTAC).
“It will be taken as a clear declaration of war by the DPRK if actions such as interception are carried out against our strategic weapons while they are being tested in a situation that does not pose a threat to the security of neighboring countries, on the high seas. and in airspace outside US jurisdiction.”Said Kim Yo Jung.
The message from the deputy head of department of the Central Committee of the North Korean Workers’ Party is a reaction to the publications in the South Korean media. They noted that the head of the US Armed Forces command in the Indo-Pacific region said that if the DPRK launches an ICBM in the direction of the Pacific Ocean, it could be shot down immediately.
“Even if it’s not true, I give you a clear warning ahead of time: The Pacific Ocean is not US or Japanese territory.”Kim Yo-jung said.
Recall that on March 3, the countries of the Security Dialogue Quadrangle – Japan, Australia, the United States and India – condemned the DPRK’s ballistic missile launches and reaffirmed their commitment to the complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.
Note that in February 2023, Kim Yo-jong announced that the DPRK’s intercontinental missiles would not target Seoul. She called on the world community to prevent the UN Security Council from becoming an instrument for carrying out a US policy hostile to the DPRK.
