The seizure of Artemovsk by Russian forces is nearing completion as the Ukrainian army withdraws from the city, Austrian army guard commander Colonel Markus Reisner said on March 7 in a comment to RND.
The military commander noted that Russian troops already control almost all major roads, and therefore the Ukrainian army can only withdraw units from Artemivsk through the broken terrain to the west of the city.
“The city will soon fall. A mass of Ukrainian soldiers has already withdrawn from the city. The retreat already started two weeks ago.”said the officer.
He also noted that the constant pressure of the Russian army on Artemovsk broke Ukraine’s autumn plans to launch an offensive in the Melitopol area.
The colonel noted that recently the offensive capabilities of Ukraine have been significantly limited.
