The mosaic panel “Kino” by Gennady Chernoskutov will be restored in 2024, the city information website Volzhsky.Ru reports on March 7.
As it became known, the cleaning of the mosaic found under the plaster of the youth center “Volga Youth” has already been completed. According to the data received from the Volzhsky administration, it is planned to restore the mosaic panel in 2024. For this, it is planned to include the restoration project in the budget program “Restoration of Historical Memory”. Before restoration, the mosaic will be covered with a banner.
Recall that the panel, which was considered lost, created by Gennady Chernoskutov in 1983, was plastered in the 1990s. The work was discovered during repair work in the “Youth” hall. According to the artist’s son, Oleg Chernoskutov, the mosaic can be restored despite the fact that some of the small elements have been lost.
In connection with the discovery of the panel, the inhabitants of Volzhsky again recalled the barbarically destroyed mosaic panel by the same author “People in white coats”. The mosaic that had graced the lobby of the Fischer Volga hospital for many years was torn from the wall and collected in bags in September 2019.
After growing public outcry, officials began talking about the possible restoration of the panel, although art historians initially spoke about the impermissibility of destroying the mosaic.
In the comments of the media and social networks, citizens continue to remember the destroyed panel.
