The US wants to be a partner to both Armenia and Azerbaijan and does not compete with Russia in mediation, US State Department spokesman Ned Price said during a March 7 briefing.
He noted that the United States is following information about the shooting incident in Nagorno-Karabakh on March 5, as a result of which there are deaths. In his opinion, the conflict has no military solution. He called the use of force to resolve disputes unacceptable.
“The only way to peace is at the negotiating table”Price said.
He added that the main advisor for the Caucasus, Louis Bono, is in the region for this very purpose, to emphasize that the only way to move forward on this issue is through dialogue and diplomacy.
“This is a matter for the parties themselves, and we are not going to oppose any other mediation proposal. In fact, we are not intermediaries, but partners of both countries. I believe that both in words and deeds we have shown that we can bring the two countries closer.”Listed price.
In his opinion, the United States has shown its willingness to make progress in relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan. And this is not done to compete with Moscow, she added.
“We are doing this with the aim of reaching an agreement and resolving the long-term conflict between the two countries. Unfortunately, the conflict continues to claim lives, just like on March 5. Here we are only interested in peace and security. It is also of interest to the peoples of Armenia and Azerbaijan.”the spokesman concluded.
