Psychedelics have helped to cope with emotional trauma from the past, Prince Harry admitted during a candid online correspondence on March 7, Fox News reported.
The prince, in correspondence with trauma expert Gabor Mate, told him how he managed to overcome childhood trauma: the death of his mother. The psychedelic potion helped him come to terms with Princess Diana’s death and understand how to go on living.
“It was cleaning the windshield, removing the life filters, those layers of filters, it took all of that away and gave me a feeling of relaxation, relief, comfort, lightness that I managed to maintain for a while.”he wrote.
Mate, in turn, told the prince how people used alcohol or drugs as coping mechanisms.
Prince Harry added: “I started doing it for fun and then I realized how useful it is for me. I would say this is one of the fundamental parts of my life that has changed me and helped me deal with past trauma and pain.”
According to him, psychedelics reveal a lot of what people hide from themselves.
Psychedelic drug therapy has been gaining popularity in the US since the gradual decriminalization of these substances began. Some states, including Colorado and Oregon, are already taking steps to decriminalize their possession or legalize regulated psychedelic therapy programs.
