The situation in the vicinity of the Georgian Parliament, which developed during the protest action, goes beyond the limits set by the law on peaceful assembly. This is stated in the statement of the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs, published on March 8 on the Ministry’s website.
“Open confrontation with law enforcement officers contributes to the extreme escalation of events. During the action, both the participants and the law enforcement officers were injured.”says the message.
It is noted that the form of protest took “fierce character”. The Ministry of the Interior urges the protesters to stop the violence and start complying with the demands of law enforcement. The rapes promise to stop.
It is worth noting that during the protests in Tbilisi, Molotov cocktails were thrown at the police. The protesters, trying to enter the parliament building, demolished a metal fence. The special forces use water cannons and tear gas against them.
Recall that the reason for the protest was the approval by the Georgian Parliament in first reading of the bill on foreign agents. They want to require NGOs, NGOs and the media to report on foreign funding.
