A significant increase in electricity consumption in Dagestan, especially in the villages of the republic, has become one of the reasons for most emergency power outages in the region. This was stated by the Dagestan Minister of Energy and Tariffs Marat Shikhaliev on March 7 live on the air of the Regional Management Center.
“In 2012, the indicator of energy consumption in the villages was 5.3 billion kWh, and in 2022 it amounted to 8.4 billion kWh. An especially important growth is observed in mountainous areas that are not gasified, where consumption growth reaches 60% due to the massive use of electricity by the population for heating.Shikhaliev said.
As reported by PJSC Rosseti, energy consumption in Dagestan is growing at a fast rate. This winter, the load of the electrical system exceeded 1.5 GW, which is a record value.
At present, according to the minister, the equipment of the electrical networks of the republic is worn out by 70-75%. “Regarding feeding centers, there the figures reach 85%. The situation in the gas distribution complex is not better, if taken as a whole, its condition can be described as depressing”.– said Shikhaliev.
The minister clarified that the republic is working on two programs to improve the state of electrical networks and the supply of gas to the population.
PJSC Rosseti, together with the government of the republic, has developed a Program for the Modernization and Reliability Improvement of the Complex of the Power Grid of the Republic of Dagestan, designed for the period 2022-2025. In accordance with this program, Rosseti planned to rebuild 66 35-110 kV transmission lines and substations.
PJSC Gazprom, together with the Government of the Republic, developed the Program for the Reconstruction and Technical Re-equipment of Gas Production and Transportation Facilities 2021-2025. Under this program, Gazprom supplies gas to 211 settlements and more than 40,000 homes. Several stations and gas distribution networks will also be reconstructed.
