The Minister of Industry, Trade and Energy of the Astrakhan Region Ilya Volynsky discussed the proposals for the Great Volga Way program in a video conference with representatives of the presidential administration of the Russian Federation and the Higher School of Economics of the University, the March 7, the press service of the governor reports.
The minister said that preparations are planned “the concept of the national program “Integrated socio-economic development of the Volga basin regions as a single geostrategic territory” The Great Volga Way” for the period up to 2030 and for the future up to 2035″.
According to the press service, the idea of joint development of the Volga regions was proposed by the governor of the Astrakhan region, Igor Babushkin, and Russian President Vladimir Putin supported it. It is planned to integrate the Great Volga Route program into the North-South International Transport Corridor project, which has gained special relevance after February 24, 2022 in response to Western economic sanctions.
