Events in honor of the 145th anniversary of the outstanding artist Boris Kustodiev, a native of Astrakhan, were held in his small homeland on March 7, the press service of the regional Ministry of Culture reports.
According to the press service, Vlasta Vataman, a researcher of the artist’s heritage, gave a free tour of the BM Kustodiev House-Museum. The Ministry of Culture informs that “Currently, the museum has a fund exhibition “Boris Kustodiev. With Love for the Homeland”, which presents 30 graphic works by the master from the gallery’s collection”.
At the same time, the exhibition presents works that characterize “an artist not only as a singer of peasants and merchants Rus, but also as a figure in Soviet art.”
In addition, the visitors were presented with an exhibition of drawings of the winners of the regional contest “Like in Carnival Week”. which were inspired by Kustodiev’s paintings dedicated to Maslyanica. The opening of a new museum website is scheduled to coincide with the memorable date.
Please note that the outstanding Russian and Soviet artist Boris Kustodiev was born on February 23 (March 7), 1878 in Astrakhan.
