The taxi driver who killed a 20-year-old cyclist in Boliqueime, Loule this Thursday, has been arrested for failing to help.
The accident happened at dawn, around 3:20 am on Estrada Nacional 270.
The collision occurred when a 46-year-old taxi driver was taking a passenger from Lisbon airport to the Algarve. The escaped man was later caught by GNR after leaving a client at a hotel, asking for a tow truck for an emergency vehicle, and calling TVDE. Based on what has been found cmthe taxi driver was caught at the toll booth and the car involved in the accident was hijacked in a trailer.
The suspect was drafted as arguido and submitted to identity and length of residence. The investigation is ongoing by the GNR.
The access node from N270 to A22 was cut, resulting in traffic restrictions.
The victim’s body has already been delivered to the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Faro.
