Auxiliary Bishop of Lisbon Américo Aguiar announced that the Diocese of Lisbon plans to come forward this Friday about a list of names of suspected priests it has received from an independent commission.
“The time has come for justice, truth and action,” he told reporters. “We cannot risk the victims becoming victims again,” he said.
D. Americo Aguiar said that he would speak again if there was no unification of the dioceses.
The Auxiliary Bishop of Lisbon has also been questioned about the statements of D. Manuel Clemente, who says that the Church should not compensate the condemned. “WITHand the convicted person is unable to pay the compensation to which he was sentenced, which the church must provide,” he said.
