The world is closer than ever to a local conflict that is turning into a world war, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said on March 10, Republika Srpska Radio and Television reports.
He claimed that the leaders of the Western world “covered by war fever”who are making speeches calling for victory in the war and are sending more and more dangerous weapons to Ukraine.
“Instead of unitedly promoting peace, the world was divided”Orban said, adding that Turkey and the Arab states, China and African countries want a ceasefire and peace talks.
Orban stressed that Hungary must have a strong army and at the same time promote peace. “Hungary needs a combat-ready armed forces, and the government is working to increase the number of soldiers, their devotion to the Motherland and their vocation, their level of training and their public reputation”– said the Prime Minister, adding that the army must be equipped with modern weapons.
In his assessment, lifting conflict-related sanctions would be the best way to curb inflation.
He announced that Hungary would continue to veto measures that would cause the most immediate damage to its economy.
“If the European Union were to lift sanctions on Russia tomorrow, inflation would immediately halve and then gradually return to two to three percent.”Orbán says.
