The German government said Thursday that women and men will soon be allowed to swim topless in Berlin’s public pools.
The new bathing rules follow a discrimination complaint filed by a woman who was not allowed to swim topless in a pool in the German capital, the report said. Washington Post.
The woman appealed to the Berlin Senate on issues of fairness, diversity and combating discrimination and demanded that women, like men, be allowed to swim without a bra.
Berliner Bäderbetriebe, which operates Berlin’s public swimming pools, has decided to allow men, women and non-binary people to swim bare-chested.
It is not yet known when the new rules will come into effect.
