Environmental activists Extinction Rebellion blocked traffic on the A12 motorway in The Hague on March 11, according to the Netherlands Broadcasting Corporation (NOS).
The protest action, organized by eco-activists from the Extinction Rebellion movement, began at noon. The police arrived at the place.
The activists affirm that up to more than 3,000 people participate in the action. Services said that such actions violate the law, the participants will be criminally prosecuted.
The eco-activists ignored the proposal to carry out the action in another place, so in the morning the road was sprayed with hot salty liquid. This prevents self-adherence of the activists and damage to the asphalt.
At 14:00 part of the road was opened to traffic, but the action continued.
Let’s remember that the eco-activists of the Extinction Rebellion movement demand that the Dutch government stop subsidizing mining companies. Previously, they arranged a blockade of the same route already 5 times.
