Minister of Ukraine asks Berlin to start training pilots in anticipation of “fighters”

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba this Sunday urged the German government to continue training pilots until the arrival of “fighters” for the Ukrainian Air Force and asked for additional ammunition.

“I don’t expect the delivery of the fighter jets to take place any time soon because it is a very difficult task from a logistical and technical point of view,” Kuleba said in an interview published this Sunday by the German Sunday newspaper Bild am Sonntag.

Therefore, he advocated that the training and training of Ukrainian pilots in Western fighters should begin now, so that when a decision is made on the supply of aircraft, time and many months of training would not be wasted.

Regarding the supply of weapons, Kuleba was convinced that Germany “could be more helpful with ammunition”, especially artillery.

“There were meetings between Ukrainian representatives and the German arms industry, who asked the German government itself, in my presence, to sign contracts. [alemão]”, he decided.

Kuleba also mentioned new Russian attacks on civilian infrastructure in Ukraine and stressed that the production of missiles and “unmanned aerial vehicles” in Russia could be stopped by “new and even tougher sanctions” against this industry, recalling that Ukraine had introduced a proposal to the European Union. (EU) within the G7 (Group of seven most industrialized countries).

“I personally sent a list of companies directly involved in the production of missiles. Unfortunately, we do not see these companies being punished enough,” he added, stressing that he was “very confused.”

“[A Ucrânia viu] some, few sanctions against companies involved in the production of “drones” and missiles included in the tenth EU sanctions package, but much more could be done,” he added.

As for the heavy fighting in Bakhmut, Kuleba wondered what would change if the Ukrainian forces left.

“Russia will take Bakhmut and continue the offensive on Chasov Yar and all subsequent cities,” he warned.

The Russian military offensive on the territory of Ukraine, launched on February 24, 2022, plunged Europe into the most serious security crisis since the Second World War (1939-1945).
