The informal platform, which brings together nine unions of education professionals, announced strikes this Monday from the 27th for “all emergency services”, final grades, district shutdowns and “large concentration” for June 6th.
At a press conference in Vila Nova de Gaia, Porto District, Secretary General of the National Federation of Teachers (Fenprof) Mario Nogueira ensured that the professors “will not be silenced” and submitted a proposal to “force the Ministry of Education” to be discussed already with thoughts on 2024 year.
Mario Nogueira also announced that teachers will be requesting meetings with all political parties, who will submit a complaint to the European Commission about “restrictions placed on the right to strike” and another complaint to the International Labor Organization (ILO), among other forms of struggle.
“There will be no shortage of fighting so that we can put pressure on the government to solve the problems that are killing a profession in which there are fewer and fewer people,” explained Mario Nogueira.
