PSD said this Wednesday that former TAP administrator Alexandra Reis granted the seat in December 2021 “ultimately without any compensation” via an email sent to then minister Pedro Nuno Santos.
This information is contained in the request that PSD submitted and delivered this Wednesday to the TAP investigation panel, and which was submitted by the coordinator Paulo Moniz during the meeting that took place this Wednesday afternoon.
“Information received today by the TAP Commission of Inquiry, from which it is clear that the former Minister of Infrastructure, Pedro Nuno Santos, received an email dated December 29, 2021, in which Alexandra Reis provided her position – ultimately without any compensation, while the Investigative The commission has no records of responses to this email yet, ”the side said in a statement.
This is one of the justifications for the Social Democrats to ask “as a matter of priority and urgency” to hear still TAP CEO Christine Urmier-Widener as part of a commission of inquiry.
In addition, in a statement filed this Wednesday, PSD also justifies the need to urgently hear Christine Umier-Widener on the government’s decision to acquit her, as well as the chairman of the board of directors of the airline, Manuel Beja, and “a statement and guarantees given by the ministers of finance and infrastructure that neither the general director, nor PCA TAP will be entitled to any compensation.”
The SDP also stated that some of the testimony contained in the appendices to the report of the General Financial Inspectorate raises doubts, “among other things, regarding the degree of awareness and monitoring of guardianship authorities regarding all stages of the process of terminating the function of Alexandra Reis.”
In this sense, the PSD parliamentary group also requested “an exchange of emails between TAP and the Secretary of State for Infrastructure, referred to in the annexes to the report as document 01A1 and which includes at least one document in Powerpoint format”, as “Minutes of the TAP SA Executive Committee and Council directors of TAP SA and TAP SGPS regarding disagreements between the CEO of TAP SA and Alexandra Reis”, “extraction of WhatsApp messages between the CEO of TAP and the Secretary of State for Infrastructure” and “other documents provided by the parties heard by the IGF that were not included in the annexes to the Report” .
At a meeting this Wednesday, the chairman of the commission of inquiry, Jorge Seguro Sanchez, said that more than two-thirds of the documents were already in the possession of the commission and that after the last meeting, Christine Humier-Widener asked for an extension of the deadline for the delivery of documents by another 35 days, as did the TAP.
According to the president, the same criteria were used as applied to the IAP request, with the possibility of granting an additional 10 days to the 10 provided by law in exceptional and duly justified cases.
The IGF concluded that the termination agreement signed between TAP and Alexandra Reis was invalid as the government decided to seek refunds and dismiss Manuel Beja and Christine Urmier-Widener, stating good cause.
At the end of December, less than a month after taking office as finance minister, Alexandra Reis left the government after Correio da Manhã revealed that she had received half a million euros to leave TAP, after which she became president of NAV. Portugal – Navegasao-Aerea.
The case that led to the creation of this commission of inquiry also led to the resignations of former Minister of Infrastructure and Housing, Pedro Nuno Santos, and Secretary of State for Infrastructure Hugo Mendez.
