The proposal to carry out a set of measures aimed at meeting the requirements of current legislation to prevent soil contamination with livestock waste was made by the Peterburgskaya Niva enterprise by the North-Western Interregional Directorate of Rosprirodnadzor, reports the service of department press. on March 20 on the official Internet portal.
Residents of the village of Zimititsy, Volosovsky district, Leningrad region, reported to the department about soil and groundwater contamination. A few meters from the private houses on the sidewalk, the company allegedly brought animal waste.
According to the press service, the law on animal by-products came into force on March 1, 2023. The legislation concerns by-products of animal husbandry substances formed during the keeping of farm animals, including manure, bedding, bedding and runoff.
When handling animal by-products, environmental contamination is not allowed. The law provides for the use of livestock by-products by introducing them into the soil after processing, processing in order to ensure the fertility of agricultural land. Untreated or unrecycled waste cannot be used to improve soil fertility.
The department found that while keeping farm animals at Peterburgskaya Niva LLC, livestock waste is generated. At the same time, the organization did not fulfill the obligation to place the object in the state register of objects that have a negative impact on the environment.
The company was warned and proposed to carry out a set of environmental measures aimed at complying with the requirements of current legislation to prevent soil contamination by livestock waste. “The execution of the notice is under management control”says the message.
