Remember that in Persian “Navruz” means “new day”. The festival belongs to the pre-Islamic tradition and is associated with the arrival of spring. Several experts consider it very old and associate it with the agricultural calendar.
Navruz is celebrated as a public holiday in Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Albania, Kyrgyzstan, Macedonia, Turkey, Kazakhstan. I also celebrate it in various Russian regions, including Dagestan, Tatarstan and Bashkiria.
