The Rosprirodnadzor North-Western Interregional Directorate plans to conduct an on-site survey of the Neyma and Khrevitsa rivers in the Leningrad region, the department’s press service reports on March 21 on the Telegram channel.
The reason for the survey was the appeals about the killing of fish and the pollution of rivers, made by citizens of the village of Bolshaya Pustomerzha, as well as the villages of Imenitsa and Nedoblitsa, Kingisepp district, Leningrad region. The applicants claimed that there was a white layer in the rivers and that a dead trout had been found at the bottom of the Neyma River, which flows into the Khrevitsa.
In the opinion of the residents, the contamination of these rivers may be due to the entry of fractions of liquid manure from the local livestock complex with meltwater. The department will verify the facts exposed in the appeals with the intervention of the expert laboratory of the Federal State Budgetary Institute “CLATI in the Northwest of the Federal District”. The visit to the site will be accompanied by water sampling in the rivers.
The press service also reports that the information about the killing of fish has been transferred to the North-West Technical Department of the Federal Fisheries Agency. In addition, materials are being prepared for submission to the Rosselkhoznadzor and Rospotrebnadzor territorial departments for verification within the competences of the departments.
