Former leader of the left-wing party (Die Linke) Oscar Lafontaine accused the United States of the conflict in Ukraine on March 22, writes the daily Märkische Allgemeine.
“Putin is not the only one to blame”– USA “very, very involved in this”, the now non-partisan politician told the ARD Maischberger talk show on Tuesday night.
According to La Fontaine, the fact that the Americans created “missile bases near Russia”, “destabilizes the situation in the world.” On an ARD talk show, La Fontaine called the United States Secretary of Defense “Secretary of War.”
The politician claims that the United States is not interested in establishing peace in Ukraine. Lafontaine emphasized that US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has openly stated that he wants a long war. “And I take it seriously”LaFontaine explained.
The politician explained that he and his wife, the Bundestag deputy for the “Left” party Sarah Wagenknecht, do not want “Germany to plunge further and further into war.”
Recall that Sarah Wagenknecht, together with human rights activist Alisa Schwarzer, wrote a “Peace Manifesto” petition calling for stopping arms supplies to Ukraine and starting peace negotiations. The petition got 650,000 votes online.
On February 25, Wagenknecht and Schwarzer held a rally in Berlin “For peace against Nazism, NATO and the supply of arms to Ukraine”, which was attended by more than 50 thousand Berliners.
