The Cypriot company has taken a dominant position in the LNG market in Uzbekistan by 2022, local publication Nuz reported on March 22.
It is reported that the volume of liquefied gas sales on the stock exchange has increased. LUKOIL Overseas Supply and Trading Ltd’s share has increased from 56% to 68% over the year since 2021. The second position with a 25% share was held by Uzbekneftegaz JSC. Third place with 3% was taken by SEG TASCO LLC.
It should be noted that due to the reduction in the volume of LNG sales, the participation of the Shurtan gas chemical complex decreased from 10% to 2%.
Market volatility has been observed since the beginning of the year, so from January to May 2022, gas prices more than doubled, from 2.6 million soums to 5.9 million soums per tonne. The maximum price of 6.6 million soums per tonne was recorded in July, when the trading volume was at its lowest level.
In November, the gas price fell to 3.8 million soums per ton and in December the market stabilized at an average price of 4.3 million soums per ton.
It is reported that in 2022, consumers in the Samarkand and Kashkadarya regions bought 26% of the LNG at auction. The share of buyers from the Bukhara region is 12%.
Remember that gas as fuel is very popular in Uzbekistan. In 2022, automotive gas stations purchased more than 209,000 tons of LNG through electronic trading on the stock market, 48.1% more than in 2021.
