The food purchase program (PAA) for small farmers was launched by the president of Brazil, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, on March 22, reports TeleSUR.
“The Food Purchase Program is another program that we have relaunched to combat hunger in Brazil, encourage family farming, and provide Brazilians with healthy food for our children.”said the head of state.
The initiative is for the purchase of fruits, vegetables and other products offered by small producers to distribute to vulnerable populations. In this way, the role of small local producers, including women farmers, will be promoted.
When presenting this initiative, Lula da Silva affirmed that it will be an incentive for the production of quality food, another measure that will solve the problem of hunger.
Keep in mind that more than 6 out of 10 Brazilians live in conditions of food insecurity.
