A suspect in the murder of his former partner in Aroca in the early morning of June 4 last year by a headshot this Thursday morning began to appear in Feira’s court for crimes of murder, skilled and possession of a prohibited weapon, and confessed to killing a woman after she told him that the youngest son was his brother-in-law.
According to two family members who testified in this trial, it was Adriano Campos who over the years always accused Maria Celestina, the victim, of having betrayed him along with her brother. Witnesses assured that the woman always denied and provided the opportunity to take a paternity test.
In January 2022, the defendant and the victim broke off a 27-year relationship, from which four common children were born. However, the couple kept in touch, especially on weekends when the suspect was returning from Spain, where he worked.
On the eve of the crime, the man found the victim at the Faiõnx Fire Department’s commercial establishment in Oliveira de Azemeis, who was talking to another man. That night, the defendant drove the woman by car to the house where the couple lived, on Largo da Igreja, in Escariz, Aroca. After a morning conversation inside the car, the suspect fired a 6.35 caliber pistol at the victim’s head.
The man tried to shoot himself, but the gun did not seem to fire due to a malfunction. As a result, he escaped and hid in a deactivated school a few dozen meters from the place where everything happened. In the morning, he was found by GNR officers with a stab wound to his wrists. The suspect did not have a license to use a firearm.
