A group of Zenit fans were expelled by the police from the Fenerbahce Şükrü Saracoglu stadium in Istanbul due to an organized brawl with fans of the Fenerbahce team against Russian footballers, the Metaratings portal reported on March 23.
It should be noted that the riots started in the middle of the first half of a charity friendly match between Zenit and Fenerbahce. At first, the cheerleaders from both teams began yelling at each other, but soon plastic cups were used, with which fans began throwing themselves at each other.
To prevent the situation from getting worse, the police removed the Russian fans from the stands. For now, the match continues, the score is 2:1 in favor of Zenit.
Let’s remember that the proceeds from the match between Zenit and Fenerbahce in Istanbul will go to help the victims of the recent earthquake in Turkey.
