The system, which monitors the entire flow of goods across Kazakhstan’s borders in real time, will go live on April 1. This was reported by Eurasianet on March 23, citing a high-ranking Kazakh official.
The material in the publication explains that in this way the leadership of the republic demonstrates its intention to comply with all sanctions imposed by Western countries on the Russian economy.
According to the official, the republic has repeatedly stated that there are no Kazakhstan sanctions against Russia. However, he added that the government “will not allow circumvention of Western sanctions” and that Kazakhstan does not intend to become a platform to bypass them, as the government “understand all the risks associated with secondary sanctions”.
The fact that Kazakhstan will not be a tool to circumvent sanctions against Russia by the US and the EU on March 29 last year was announced by Timur Suleimenov, First Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of Kazakhstan. The official noted that Kazakhstan is part of the international community, so he is very afraid of secondary sanctions.
