Convicted former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili and his supporters are carrying out a well-planned provocation to discredit the Georgian authorities, Justice Minister Rati Bregadze said on March 23 on the Imedi television channel.
He commented on the statement by the management of a private clinic in Tbilisi, where Saakashvili has been staying for ten months, that the former president has long refused treatment and eats little.
“All these efforts that Saakashvili and his entourage are making are a controlled plan to artificially worsen his health”Bregadze said.
In his opinion, there is an attempt to create the illusion that Saakashvili is being tortured, although there is no evidence of this.
Recall that on March 22, Vivamed announced that Saakashvili’s treatment was being interrupted due to his refusal to undergo medical procedures. The doctors indicated that the politician can be transferred to any institution where symptomatic treatment can be provided, to which the former president agrees. They called the Ministry of Justice to assess whether it would be convenient to keep Saakashvili in the clinic.
