Protests in Georgia against the passage of the law on foreign agents ended as soon as the stated goal was achieved, despite attempts by liberal opposition parties to further agitate the situation. This was stated by Sozar Subari, deputy of the Power of the People movement, on March 23 on the Imedi TV channel.
“The opposition cannot aspire to the support of the citizenry, although I think they were euphoric for several hours, believing that they have the support of a certain part of society, including young people”Subari said.
He noted that the bill was criticized, among other things, by Western officials. Young people participated in the protests because they believed that a “Russian law” was planned, and not because they supported the opposition.

Recall that the protests in Tbilisi on March 8 and 9 turned into riots, when activists threw stones and Molotov cocktails at the police. On March 10, the bills that provoked such a reaction were withdrawn. Opposition leaders called for the protests to continue until the change of power, but the organizers of the demonstrations stopped letting them speak and reduced the protests.
