A 70-year-old man was arrested this Friday afternoon by the GNR of Águeda on suspicion of stabbing another man in his 50s in Recardains, also in the municipality of Águeda.
The suspect apparently stabbed the victim for testifying in a case in which a man was sentenced to seven years in prison for aggravated theft.
Around 13:30, the firefighters of Águeda received a traffic accident warning in Paradel. However, when operatives arrived at the scene, they found the victim with cardiac arrest and stab wounds.
The suspect was detained by the NDP as he was preparing to enter the office of a lawyer involved in the case in which he was convicted. Shortly before GNR’s arrest, the man nevertheless managed to set fire to the lawyer’s office on Via Americano Urbano, next to the fire station.
ABOUT morning Post it is known that an arrest warrant was issued for the suspect to serve the seven-year prison sentence to which he was sentenced for aggravated theft.
The judicial police were called to the scene. The death was confirmed by the ambulance and resuscitation team in Aveiro.
