Neither of the Western partners is preparing a second front against Russia in Georgia, but instead dreams of peace, Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili said in an interview with the opposition Pirveli TV channel on 24 March.
“We are a country where no one is preparing a second front. What is the second front? When our Western partners invited us to war. Everyone dreams that the Black Sea and the Caucasus are calm. Nobody wants to destabilize the situation.”– said Zurabishvili.
Georgian authorities have repeatedly stated that the West is putting pressure on Georgia to persuade it to open a second front against Russia.
Zurabishvili explained such statements by the leaders of the ruling Georgian Dream party by the fact that the ruling party is worried about the loss of support among its voters, and therefore is trying to consolidate the electorate for the 2024 parliamentary elections.

In the same interview, the President of Georgia claimed that Bidzina Ivanishvili, the founder of Georgian Dream, who retired from politics several years ago, is an oligarch and the country’s problem regarding the transparency of the political system.
