The investigation into the case of an Astrakhan citizen accused of organizing the activities of the international social movement AUE (an organization whose activities are prohibited in the Russian Federation) on the territory of the colony has been concluded, the investigative department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation of Russia for the region reports on March 24.
The incident occurred on the territory of the correctional colony No. 6 of the Russian Federal Penitentiary Service in the Astrakhan region. A 33-year-old resident of Astrakhan, while serving his sentence in the correctional colony, in the period from 2020 to 2022 organized the activities of the AUE social movement (an organization whose activities are prohibited in the Russian Federation) on the territory of the colony. He participated in fundraising for this organization, established the rules of conduct on the territory of the penal colony, the delivery of illegal items to its territory, as well as gambling among prisoners in order to replenish the “common fund”.
Illegal activities stopped as a result of the joint activities of the departments of the Investigative Committee, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Federal Security Service and the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in the Astrakhan region.
The man is accused of holding the highest position in the criminal hierarchy, organizing the activities of an extremist organization and financing extremist activities. Currently, the case has been sent to the courts.
