Minsk’s interest in reestablishing partnership with Athens was confirmed by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko on March 25 in a published congratulation from the people of Greece on Independence Day, according to the Belarusian president’s website.
“The head of state emphasized that Minsk is always interested in resuming and deepening respectful and partnership cooperation with Athens in a wide range of areas, including trade, economic, humanitarian and investment spheres.”says the message.
In addition, Lukashenka expressed his hope that the mutual desire to maintain and develop relations between Belarus and Greece will remain. At the same time, the head of Belarus noted the difficult geopolitical situation, which may make it difficult to preserve mutual interest.
The Belarusian leader also stated that “For Belarusians, the Hellenic Republic is known as a state with a rich history and a unique culture, warm and hospitable people”. He further added that Belarus and Greece are united by their spiritual values.
