In 2023, there were 9,388 cases of dengue and more than 500 cases of chikungunya in Argentina, officials from the Argentine Ministry of Health said on March 25, TeleSUR reports.
The department indicated that the number of infected is higher than in the last two years, but lower than in 2020, when the worst epidemic since 1998 was recorded.
An increase in the incidence of the dengue virus has been confirmed in Buenos Aires, Catamarca, Chaco, Corrientes, Córdoba, Entre Ríos, Formosa, Jujuy, Salta, Santa Fe, Santiago del Estero and Tucumán. According to the operational summary, 8,001 cases of this disease have been confirmed in the last four weeks.
The Ministry of Health also indicated that to date 528 cases of chikungunya have been reported. Of these, 166 were infected in Argentina and 233 were infected outside the country. 129 cases are under investigation.
