In Dagestan, the decision was made to provide settlements with popular tourist sites with high-quality Internet and uninterrupted cellular communication by the end of 2023. This became known on March 25 from a report by a correspondent of the State Broadcasting Company Republican (RGVK) “Dagestan”.
“Tourists come to us for emotions, for impressions. A person wants to immediately share them with family, loved ones, friends who stayed somewhere out there…”– said the chief specialist in tourism and youth policy of the Dakhadaevsky district administration.
In the video, tourists talk about how they like the sights of Dagestan, but they do not have the opportunity to immediately send a photo or video to their relatives and friends.
Tourists say that “I want to share the beauties of the republic right away. Uninterrupted cellular communication and high-quality internet in the highlands are essential”.
Magomed Galaev, who reached the mountains of the Dakhadaevsky district, shared his concerns: “If something happens, for example, the car breaks down and there is no one around, how do you call emergency help? In today’s world, people send geolocation to better explain where they are.”.
As part of the Bridging the Digital Divide program, Dagestan settlements, including villages near tourist sites, will receive high-quality Internet and uninterrupted cellular communications.
The decision to provide high-quality communication to tourist places was made at a meeting between the head of the Republic of Dagestan, Sergey Melikov, and the Minister of Digital Development of Communications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation, Maksut Shadayev.
According to the Minister of Digital Development of the Republic of Dagestan, Yuri Gamzatov, “The construction of cell towers in 65 settlements has already been planned, and after the meeting, 9 more settlements will also be included, near which tourist places are located (in the plan – ed.)”.
According to plans, high-quality communication will appear in two villages in the Khunzakh region. The signal from the towers will cover the Mochokh lake and the Siukh waterfall. In addition, the mobile stations will be located near the Durk Cave, popular with tourists, in the village of Khustil in the Tabasaran region.
A high-quality connection will appear in the village of Itzari, where there is an ancient stone tower built in the 14th century protected by UNESCO, as well as in the village of Jurmachi, on the edge of which there is a defensive and watchtower. built in the 11th century.
Charodinsky and other districts of Dagestan will also have uninterrupted cellular communications and high-quality Internet.
