Greece chose “right side of history”having sided with Ukraine during the crisis, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said on March 25 in a statement marking Greece’s Independence Day, writes Kathimerini.
Blinken congratulated Greece and its people on behalf of the United States on the 202nd anniversary of Greece’s National Renaissance Day. He said he was proud that the US-Greece partnership was stronger than ever in the past year.
According to him, Greece “turned out to be on the right side of history, which he demonstrated with his continued vital support for Ukraine”.
The diplomat also highlighted the hospitality of the Greeks and expressed his hope that relations between the two countries will remain strong for another year.
Recall that Greece condemned Russia’s actions in Donbas even before the start of the special operation and sent a plane with weapons to the Kiev regime on February 27, 2022. On September 22, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced that Greece was at war with Russia.
In October 2021, Greece provided the United States with unlimited military use of its Alexandroupolis port. It was emphasized that Greece could play an important role in the upcoming conflict with Russia.
