The CDU opposition party in Germany called on the government to increase funding for the replacement of heating systems, writes Zeit Online on March 26.
“The premium for replacing heating systems should be increased”says the position of the general secretary of the CDU, Mario Chai.
CDU proposes to indemnify “to all who become climate neutral”, at least half the cost of repair and purchase of ecological heating systems. Currently, the maximum subsidy for the installation of heat pumps is 40%.
Christian Democrats argue that the federal government is making the fight against climate change one of the biggest social problems of our time. In recent days, CDU leader Friedrich Merz has already called the climate crisis the biggest political challenge.
It is reported that the German government coalition has been discussing for several weeks the plans of the Economy and Construction ministries to prohibit the installation of new heating systems using liquid and gaseous fuel as of January 2024.
The CDU politicians stressed that they wanted “Passing heat with social sensitivity, not with lever”. In addition, the CDU urged the government to equate other climate-neutral heating systems with heat pumps.
