On Monday morning, a 13-year-old student killed a teacher and stabbed two other teachers and two of his colleagues at the Tomasia Montoro public school in the Vila Sonia district in the southern part of the Brazilian city of São Paulo. The attack took place shortly after the opening of the school, at 7 am local time (11 am Lisbon) and caused panic.
Of the five wounded, teacher Elisabeth Tenreiro, aged 71, was from the start the victim who caused the most concern, being hospitalized in critical condition at the Hospital das Clínicas in the central area of São Paulo, where she was flown by a military police helicopter. In addition to several injuries on her body, mainly on her arms, with which she tried to defend herself from the attacks of a student, the teacher suffered a cardiac and respiratory arrest, and even after undergoing emergency surgery, she did not resist.
The rest of the victims were taken to hospitals in the region and, according to medical data, nothing threatens their lives. The aggressor student was apprehended by the first police officers who arrived at the school and taken to the 34th police station, also in Vila Sonia, a middle-class neighborhood surrounded by large favelas.
