The fatal victims of the knife attack at the Centro Ismaelita in Lisbon were Mariana, 24, and Farana, 49. The mother of one of the victims was at the scene early in the morning when she thought that her daughter was simply injured.
One of the victims, Mariana, had a degree in political and international relations from the Faculdade Nova de Ciências Socias e Humanas in Lisbon.
Around 11:00 am, a man armed with a pistol entered the Ismaelita Center while an English lesson was taking place. The motive for the attack is still unknown.
The attack also injured a teacher who was stabbed in the neck. The victim went to the Santa Maria hospital on his own. The aggressor, an Afghan by nationality, attended a center where he studied Portuguese, was shot dead by police and taken to a hospital in San José.
