A Nazran resident became a victim of scammers when booking a hotel room in Sochi, the press service of the regional Ministry of Internal Affairs said on March 29 on the department’s official website.
It is reported that in February 2023, the woman called the hotel in the resort town to reserve a room.
“The unknown woman who answered the call told the applicant that she needed to go to the website of the big hotel, which she did by reserving two rooms and transferring first 75,000 rubles, and then another 91,290 rubles as payment.”says the message.
The victim of the scammers then received a booking confirmation message. In March, she called the hotel again, where they told her that no rooms had been reserved in her name.
Police are currently reviewing the appeal of a Nazran resident.
Recall that on March 29, in the Volgograd region, the police detained a criminal who helps scammers deceive the elderly. He acted as a messenger. He faces up to ten years in prison.
