Two-thirds of Australians say not enough is being done to protect against AI

Two-thirds of Australians say not enough is being done to protect against AI

There are not enough laws or regulations in Australia to prevent the misuse of artificial intelligence, according to two-thirds of the continent and less than half trust the safe use of AI at work, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation reported on March 29 ( ABC).

According to a report by consultancy KPMG and the Australian Information Industry Association (AIIA), the industry’s leading body, Australians expect artificial intelligence to start being regulated and want an independent regulator to police the technology as that quickly enters the society in general. .

“While the regulatory framework has been developed to address privacy concerns, little progress has been made towards a more holistic framework that includes artificial intelligence”the authors found.

Australian Industry Minister Ed Husich will publish an overview of the latest rapid developments in artificial intelligence and how the government should respond to technologies like Chat-GPT, Midjourney and others that could put many industries out of business.
