Gwyneth Paltrow wins civil suit over 2016 skiing accident in Utah

Gwyneth Paltrow has been awarded $1 in damages after winning a U.S. lawsuit over a 2016 skiing accident in Utah.

The jury concluded that the Oscar winner was not at fault for the collision, which resulted in former optometrist Terry Sanderson suffering several broken ribs and head injuries.

Ms. Paltrow denied the allegations and blamed Mr. Sanderson for crashing into her, causing her and her family to lose “half a day of skiing.”

After eight days of deliberation and just over two hours of deliberation, the jury returned a verdict in favor of Ms. Paltrow.

On Thursday, a jury found Mr. Sanderson “100%” responsible for the crash, found him responsible for Ms. Paltrow’s injuries, and awarded the actress her $1 “token” counterclaim in damages.

Ms. Paltrow and Mr. Sanderson, both of whom testified at the hearing, were present in court at the sentencing.

The actress, dressed in a blue blazer, white shirt and brown pants, took a deep breath after hearing the verdict.

In an Instagram Story post shortly after the verdict, she said she was “happy with the outcome.”

“I felt that agreeing to a false statement compromised my integrity,” she wrote.

Ms. Paltrow previously said she was “deeply sorry” for Mr. Sanderson’s deteriorating health after the incident, but insisted she was “not at fault” and said she was “a victim.”

Mr. Sanderson’s lawyers have previously offered jurors to award him more than $3 million in damages in this case.

During Thursday’s closing debate, the court heard that Ms Paltrow had been threatened with a “ransom” for an “unreasonable demand” and that she had shown “courage” when she stood trial in a two-week trial.

In their closing arguments, Mr Sanderson’s lawyers said that Ms Paltrow “wasn’t lying” but that they were wrong about what happened.

Robert Sykes told jurors that the actress’s view of the collision was “genuinely expressed” but misguided.

On Wednesday, Sanderson told the court it was “very difficult” to sue a celebrity and said he thought the intent of the lawsuit was to “regret” that he filed a lawsuit against the Hollywood actress.

During the trial, the jury also heard from several medical experts, ski instructors, and family members of Mr. Sanderson and Ms. Paltrow, including the actress’s children, Apple and Moses Martin.
