
Irkutsk State University (ISU) and Mongolian State University of Education (MGUO) have signed a cooperation agreement on student exchange, ISU Rector Alexander Schmidt said on March 31, the ISU press service reported. University.
“We have reached specific agreements on the signing of a new cooperation agreement between the ISU and the Moscow State Educational Institution. In fact, we will be implementing an exchange program”Schmidt said.
According to him, students are interested in immersion in the linguistic environment. For example, the Moscow State University of Education sent its Russian-Mongolian students to Kalmykia, but Irkutsk is closer and more cost-effective in terms of travel.
The first batch of Mongolian students will come to Irkutsk in 2024 for short-term educational programs. ISU is interested in cooperating with the Moscow State Educational Institution to develop joint teaching aids on the Russian language and Russian culture for teachers in Mongolian schools.
It should be noted that Mongolia is one of the largest foreign trade partners of the Irkutsk region. In 2021, the region’s trade turnover with the country of Mongolia amounted to nearly $85 million, an increase of 32% over the year. In 2022, it doubled again.
It should also be noted that about 15,000 students study at ISU, the oldest university in Eastern Siberia.
